The Discipleship House
The purpose of the R.O.C. Discipleship program is to take college-aged young men through a gospel-centered discipleship program that teaches them to use Biblical principles as a guide for developing their personal growth. Over the course of a year, students will be encouraged to mature their character, and to devote their lives to the service of the Kingdom of God. Primarily, this is done through the study of God's written word, prayer, and fellowship. We desire to challenge the young men to pursue God wholeheartedly and seek His will for every area of their lives.
While in the discipleship house students are encouraged to plug into the ROC ministries.
The program will focus on three key discipleship areas: the Word of God, fellowship with believers, and prayer.
The following scripture serves as our guide:
Acts 2:42: And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
1. The Word of God: Students will dive deep into God’s Word through daily scripture readings and group discussions with their housemates. Also, the young men will participate in weekly one-on-one Biblical conversations with their personal mentors. They will have the opportunity to learn the Word, discuss what they have discovered, and apply it to their lives.
2. Fellowship with Believers: Students are immersed in a rich environment of fellowship. By living in a discipleship house for the duration of the program, participants will have an amazing opportunity to build life-long connections with fellow Christian brothers. Through these bonds of brotherhood, the young men will learn to hold each other accountable to a higher standard that is centered around Christ while encouraging one another to walk out what they are studying in the scriptures. Also, R.O.C. Discipleship House helps students develop growth in other areas of life such as independence, self-reliance, and personal responsibilities.
3. Prayer: Prayer may be the most overlooked aspect in the life of many young Christians today. At R.O.C., we will pray daily: with each other, alone, and with the lost and the hurting. Our students will be challenged to center their day around prayer while continually seeking the will of God for their future.
By strengthening these essential areas in the lives of our participants, we are able to contribute to the transformation of today’s youth into true, biblical men of God.
